National Teacher Appreciation Day: I Love My Teacher Because

Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day. That makes it a good day to think about the teachers who have made a difference in our, either for us or our children. Too much of the time,  teachers get a bad rap because they have to be strict, and sometimes, because they make mistakes. That might not be fair of us, depending on the extent of the mistake, because, let’s face it, to err is human. And teachers are definitely human.

Of course, we can all remember teachers who were strict or mean, while other teachers, meanwhile, EMBARRASSED us. But most of us remember the truly awesome teachers who straightened us out, made us feel we had special talents, and too, may us feel they CARED about us.

Teachers Who Listen

Those are the teachers we remember today, on National Teacher Appreciation Day, because face it, it takes a bit of effort to give credit where credit is due, but it’s all too easy to bash a person. Teachers take over where our parents stopped, every single school day for years on end. If we are holding down jobs, there was a terrific teacher in our pasts. When we remember the year that Columbus discovered America it is because a teacher remained patient with us. Should our kids have difficulties in class, we appreciate that they have the kind of teacher who really listens and tries to help.

In that spirit, we ask you to think back to your child’s favorite teachers. What was it that made your child bond with them? Which qualities do you look for in your child’s teachers?

National Teacher Appreciation Day: Thank a Teacher

National Teacher Appreciation Day is a good day to think about that special teacher in your life, whether your child’s or your own. Let that teacher know you appreciate them. Tell them they’ve made a positive difference in your life. We’re certain they’ll appreciate your thoughtfulness.
